Summer comes early, with real heat by May, corn head-high by the fourth of July. Early greens - cabbage, lettuce, radishes etc. - are out by June, while tomatoes can arrive as early as mid-June. Strawberries begin in May, blueberries start on June 1st or so, peaches a week later. Melons start in July as well. The truck market-bound groans under the weight of produce most of the hot summer months.
