Autumn season begins as the paw-paws ripen in the woods during early September. The workload decreased remarkably, leaving us to wonder if we had been crazy to eat supper at 10 PM on those long summer evening after picking beans.

Our fall crops of cabbages, lettuce, radishes require much less weeding and bug control, leaving time for apple harvest, firewood gathering, and relaxing to enjoy the autumn views. Persimmons (pctured below left) ripen and fall with the leaves as the earth goes to sleep.
